Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and moms can be hard to shop for. What do you get the lady who gave you everything? Never fear, for I am here to help! I’ve rounded up some gifts that your mom will absolutely love and that you actually still have time to get. Because our moms deserve the world, amirite?
An oldie, but a goodie. Nothing makes a home cosier than a great scented candle to warm it up. I love the Voluspa candles because they last a long time, they permeate the room without being overpowering, and they’re so pretty. There are so many scents, you’re sure to find one perfect for your mom. Because there are so many sizes and types, you can easily find one in your budget, as well. Best of all- they’re sold everywhere. Amazon, Francesca’s, and many other places so you’re able to quickly snag one before the day!
These are sure to spice up any kitchen and your mom will love them. They’re decorative and useful, which she’s sure to appreciate. There’s so many kinds out there- so if these don’t match your mom’s carefully planned décor, go for some that do! You can find cute tea towels at Target, Walmart, Homegoods, Macy’s, online…basically anywhere.
Something I think many of us remember about our moms growing up is the cooking. Inspire her with new recipes from fun cookbooks. There are so many kinds out there, from traditional, to TV show inspired, to celebrity written. Pick one that aligns with your mom’s interests, or if there’s a type of food she loves cooking, go with one specifically about that cuisine. There’s endless options, and lots of places to buy. Head to a bookstore like Barnes & Nobles, Books-A-Million, or a local one for the most options. If you’re crunched for time check out Target or Walmart’s book selection!
Go the techie route and get her something that will make her life much easier. This little baby can do so much. It’s hands-free and voice controlled, using Alexa to control music, control smart home devices, make calls, send/receive messages, provide info and much more. Mom can ask Alexa the weather or for recent news, from across the room. It’s small and unassuming so it’s easy to blend in to any room. Amazon Prime will send you most things within two days, so you’ve still got time for this one!
Let’s be real- moms always need coffee. If you’re ballin’ on a budget, a small but cute go-to of mine is a coffee mug. You can accompany this with her favorite coffee grounds/K-cups or fill it with sweets. Every time she reaches for her morning Joe it’ll remind her of you. Get one with her initials, get one with a cute message, there’s so many options. This one is from Target, but you can find the like at Walmart, Francesca’s, Altar’d State, just about anywhere, really.
A Mini Vacay
Why not really treat mom this year and take her on a weekend getaway– just the two of you? Whether it’s a beach weekend or a hiking adventure, your mom is sure to love it. Admittedly- this option takes a bit of bankrolling, but you could opt for more of a staycation and go somewhere close to home. Check out AirBnb– the prices tend to be better and the rooms cosier. Best part? You don’t have to make plans right away. Print out a “coupon” for a mini vacay and plan it with Mom. It’ll be a super special gift she’ll never forget.
I love the idea of matching jewelry with Mom. It’s something for the both of you, to keep you connected even when you’re miles apart. If you’re not a bracelet wearer, opt for a cute pendant or even matching rings. You don’t even have to pick a mother-daughter themed set if that’s not your style. Birthstones, sweet phrases, even pretty matching designs are all great choices. These super cute ones are from Alex & Ani – which you can find at Nordstrom, but I’ve seen cute alternatives at almost every major department store.
Spa Gift Certificate
Give your mom the much needed gift of relaxation this year with a gift certificate to her favorite spa. Whether you opt to give her a skincare service, massage or a total spa package, she’ll love the gesture. Ok-so your mom doesn’t have a favorite spa? Check out local high end resorts or hotels-many have a spa. Just make sure to check reviews, they’re the most reliable when going somewhere new. If you’re feeling it, why not treat yourself at the same time and get you both a day of relaxation? That’s some sweet bonding time!
In Vino Veritas
If all else fails, treat mom (and probably yourself) to a nice bottle of wine. If you’ve got the time hit up a specialty store like Total Wine or if there’s a nice restaurant around that bottles it’s own, grab a bottle there. If you’re really procrastinating…well your local grocery store or even a Target will do. They’ve got some decent brands for the last minute shopper. Go with what mom likes, whether that’s a sweet red or a crisp prosecco. Go the extra mile and get stuff for a cheese board. There you have it-the perfect set up for an awesome girls’ night!
Look-I’m a procrastinator to my core, so I hope I’ve helped give some last minute ideas to my fellow idlers out there. Above all I hope you all have a lovely Mother’s Day with your moms and have some quality time together. Or that you at least send her something nice. What are your Mother’s Day plans?
