Hello pretty kitties!
Well, October is officially over. I hope you all had a very Happy Halloween, and that you got more treats than tricks! I can’t believe how fast this year is winding down, but I have to say that I am so ready for Thanksgiving. Before I get too much onto that subject, I wanted to share with you all the things I’ve been loving in the month of October! This past month I’ve had a good mix of beauty-related items, as well as some randoms. So without further ado, here are my faves!
Beauty
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
Ok, that’s a very long name for a very good product. I can’t believe how much I actually love this foundation. Rihanna really knocked it out of the park. I love the formula. It’s medium to buildable coverage, and it’s lightweight. It literally looks and feels like skin. I could go on & on, but I’m planning on doing a full review on it, so keep your eyes peeled for that if you want to know more.
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer
I am very late to this bandwagon, but I am a total fan. This.stuff.is.legit. It is super full coverage, and will combat even the darkest of eye circles. I love it both for concealing and highlighting. I have found that I have to work quickly with it, but as long as I do, it blends really nicely and doesn’t cake up. The only downside for me is the scent, which is kind of interesting and a little strong, but I don’t mind it enough to not love this concealer.
LUSH Lord of Misrule Shower Cream
So I have been a big fan of the Lord of Misrule bath bomb for years, but I just don’t take baths very often. This year they’ve done it as a shower cream, so it feels super rich and luxurious. I like to use it on a loofah or shower puff, because it lathers better that way. And the scent. The scent is so delicious. It’s got vanilla, patchouli, peppercorn and black pepper. It’s neither feminine or masculine, but truly unisex. And the scent lingers for hours! Just make sure to rinse down the shower after because it is very green and will leave faint marks!
K-Beauty Routine Kit at Target
I think these are just so smart. Basically they are like little mini kits so that you can try out a routine without having to figure much out or spend a bunch of money. There are three different types you can get, Oil Be Gone, Hydrated Glow and Youthful Glow. You get 4 mini products to try as a system. You can then purchase the full size if they work for you. I tried the Oil Be Gone system, and while I didn’t love everything, I’ve found a few products that I do like. I’ll definitely be giving the others a go!
Style
Platform Brogues
I have always been a sucker for a cute pair of brogues (sometimes called oxfords). I think they are just so stylish and classic. And a good pair can last for years. Lately I’ve been loving platform brogues. The modern take on a classic is super fun and looks really cool. Also, it gives you some height while remaining super comfortable. I wear these rose gold ones to work all the time, and I never have sore feet!
Entertainment
The Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff & Amie Kaufman
Guys, this book series is so cool. It’s structured like you’re reading a dossier that includes chats, reports, maps and stuff like that. It’s such an interesting, fun read, I was absolutely hooked. It really opened my eyes to a new way of storytelling. You can read the plot overview here. It’s meant for young adults, but I’m grouping myself into that category anyway.
Outlander
This has been an obsession of mine for awhile now, but the new season just aired. If you guys haven’t seen this show, you definitely should. It’s one of my all-time faves, I am absolutely hooked. It’s set in Scotland, where a young woman in the forties accidentally time-travels back to the 1700s. It’s freaking incredible, and I’m addicted.
So that’s all for my October favorites! What have you all been loving in the last month? Anything I should try? Let me know in the comments below!
As always, thanks for reading & stay golden!
XOXO,
If you ever want to try another kind of concealer, you should check out the Hey Honey concealer. I got it this past month in my ipsy bag and was really impressed with it.
