Birchbox Review (December 2016)

Hello friends!

I’ve posted about my Ipsy Glambag monthly subscription, and I recently added one more box to my monthly mail excitement. Of course I’m talking about Birchbox. Each month you get a pretty little box filled with five deluxe beauty related samples to try. The box is $10/month. While Ipsy and Birchbox are very similar, I find that I get higher end products to try with Birchbox. It’s a great monthly subscription for beauty lovers! This month’s theme was Shine On! All about luminosity and radiance for the holidays.  Let’s get into this month’s goodies!

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray

Literally everyone is obsessed with this product so I was excited to get to try it. I can see why it’s a cult fave. It’s part dry shampoo, part texturizing spray and all around a great product. While I actually prefer the Gold Lust Dry Shampoo by Oribe, I still really like this product. I never wash my hair if I can help it, so this type of product is great. It definitely doesn’t leave white chalky residue in my hair, which I appreciate, and it does add some texture. It’s just so essspenziiiivee. Otherwise, it’s perfect.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3 Minute Peel

Nope, taking a hard pass on this one. Basically this is meant to be a acid-free peel that you can do in 3 minutes (they recommend using while in the shower). It’s supposed to smooth texture, even skin tone, and reduce the appearance of acne scars. You spread the gel onto damp skin and massage it in, until the dead skin cells and gel combine into tiny balls, which are supposed to rinse off. While I did feel like my skin was a smidge smoother, it clung to the fine hairs on my face, a lot. I spent the next ten minutes of my shower picking off the gross skin balls and ripping out my peach fuzz. So, unless you shave your entire face or something, I can’t recommend this.

IPKN Radiant Cream Primer

Holy mother of sweet highlighting pearls I love this primer. I feel like Tom Cruise jumping on Oprah’s couch professing his love, that’s how much I love this primer. I usually shy away from luminous/radiant/dewy anything, so I wasn’t that stoked about trying this, but boy was I wrong. The formula is hydrating and literally makes your skin look so healthy. If you’re into a super dewy look and don’t need foundation, you could wear this by itself. Foundation applies super smooth over this, and looks amazing. It even has SPF15, which is a nice touch. I’m 100% sold on this, will definitely be purchasing.

Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads

In all honesty, I hate when I get sent things I can only try once, especially skincare. How am I supposed to know if it works or makes a difference?! These were okay. They kind of stung a bit while they were on my face. My under-eye area did feel hydrated, and didn’t feel puffy anymore. I can’t say if this is super effective, because I’ve only tried it once. I’d give it a…maybe? Sorry, guys for this non-opinion!

Milk Makeup Highlighter Stick in Lit

I WAS SO EXCITED FOR THIS. I have been so close to buying this so many times and haven’t, so I was thrilled to get to try it out. I actually really like it. I like to apply it with my fingertips, as it disturbs the rest of my makeup less that way. I found that applying it directly sometimes shifted my foundation. I like the color, it’s subtle but pretty. I actually use it as a base for a powder highlighter. This will literally make you glow to Mars. Definitely worth it.

Every so often Birchbox will send you an extra little something. For the holidays they sent a little mirror. It’s perfect to slip into a clutch or purse, and the design is really cute. It’s a nice little extra from them.

It was a good month for my Birchbox. I got a good mix of products, and I liked almost all of them. I found new favorites too, so that’s amazing! If you’re interested in signing up you can follow this link. It’s worth it! If you already have it, did we get any of the same products? What did you get & what was your favorite? Have you tried any of these & if so, what did you think? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thanks for reading & stay golden!
