Ipsy Glambag Review (December 2016)

Hello friends!

It’s about that time where I receive my sweet metallic hot pink package in the mail. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s the subscription service called ipsy. For $10/month you receive a cute, reusable bag full of sweet beauty related products. The products range from well-known brand names to smaller companies. You can get anything from skincare to makeup to beauty tools. Let’s dig into this month’s goodies!

The Bag

The bag is designed to double as a clutch for the holidays, so it’s cute and functional. It’s hot pink and kind of a metallic furry material. The bag is big enough to carry an id wallet, with some cards and a maybe a lipstick or two. The color is definitely a statement. I like this month’s bag and can see myself going out with it for sure.

Barefoot Venus Gingersnap Instant Hand Repair

With mango butter and shea butter, this hand cream really moisturizes and protects dry, wintery hands. I really like the formula. It’s moisturizing without feeling greasy or sticky. It lasts through hand-washing, which is nice because my hands are always in water for my job. But guys, the scent is amazing. It smells like gingerbread cookies with sweet icing. It’s delicious without being overpowering. I want this for always. 10/10 would recommend.

MintPear Beauty Blending Sponge

I almost exclusively use beauty blender-like sponges to apply foundation (my favorite is made by RealTechniques). So I was pretty excited to have a new one, but unfortunately less than impressed. It’s harder than I like and it kind of sucks up more product than it applies. However, I’ve been using this to apply my setting powder to bake under my eyes. That’s been working pretty well. I wouldn’t repurchase this, but it’ll do for now.

Ciate London Liquid Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick in Pin Up

I love this, absolutely love it. The purply-pink shade is beautiful and it applies really smoothly. The color is great for the holidays, but it doesn’t scream Christmas so you could wear it all year long. It’s long lasting and the precision tip makes it easy to make sharp lines. It’s matte but not drying, which makes it really comfortable to wear. It’s creamy and moisturizing, with hyaluronic acid, which conditions your lips. I would 100% buy this for myself in the future! And it’d make a really good stocking stuffer for a last minute gift!

tarte-maracuja-oil

I was really excited to see this in my bag this month because I’ve seen so many good things about this product. And I absolutely love tarte as a brand. It sounds crazy to put oil on your face, because nobody wants to be a greaseball, right? Never fear, this stuff is legit. Very moisturizing, and left my face looking dewy, but not greasy. Bonus, you can use this to moisturize your cuticles, smooth flyaways, or remove your makeup. Such a great multitasker.

theBalm Cosmetics Mad Lash Mascara

Another hit here, I 100% approve of this. The wand is that silicony-rubber kind, which I love. It’s also really flexible, so it gets product on every lash. It also has a little ball at the tip, so it’s easy to get even the tiniest little lashes. The formula is smooth, elongates the lashes and it’s black as night. It doesn’t flake or smudge and it lasts all day. Definitely getting my hands on the full size!

Overall, this was a really  good month from ipsy, and I’m really pleased with it. The only questionable item was the makeup sponge, and I’ve even found use for that, so it’s not that bad. If you’re interested in signing up for ipsy you can follow this link and get fun goodies for yourself! If you already have it, what did you get? Which product was your favorite? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thanks for reading & stay golden!

XOXO,
