I seriously can’t believe that it’s December and 2016 is almost over! Though tbh, can this year end please? We’ve suffered enough. Anyways, as it’s the start of the month I thought I’d look back on things I’ve been loving through the month of November and share them with you. Some of these are re-discoveries and some are new, and all are wonderful.
boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser
I was at work talking about how weird my skin has been lately, and a co-worker of mine told me that she had a sample size of the boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser if I wanted to try it. Of course I jumped on that, because I absolutely love this brand. Let me tell you, this cleanser is so different. Basically it warms up upon contact to open the pores, then lifts away dirt, oil and impurities and leaves your face super clean. I really love this because it leaves my skin feeling really clean, but doesn’t feel harsh or dry it out. It is also paraben, sulfate ahd phthalate free. This isn’t the cheapest brand, but Sephora offers a 1.7oz version that only costs $10. I highly recommend!
MAC Prep + Prime Fix+
I used to love using this when I first started really getting into makeup. I kind of fell off of using it, but recently rediscovered it and fell back in love. As you can see, I’ve used this bottle practically to death. What I love about this is that it’s so multi-functional. I spray it on my bare skin if it’s feeling really dry or in need of refreshing. I also love it as a setting spray. It kind of melds my makeup together and makes it lose that powdery look. This is also really great for intensifying shimmer eyeshadows and highlighters. It is an absolute staple in my makeup collection.
Maybelline FitMe! Matte & Poreless Foundation
I talked about this product in my Drugstore Beauty Haul post back in July, and I didn’t love it. I honestly don’t know why, but I decided to try it again. Tbh, I probably forgot that I didn’t like it and bought it again. My impressions couldn’t be more different. While it’s not my favorite foundation by any means, I’ve been using it a lot this month. It could be that I’m using a different primer & setting spray-but this foundation goes on really well, stays put and doesn’t break up. The color match is spot on, and I find it easy to blend. You don’t need a lot of product, and can get medium to buildable coverage. It’s never caked up on me either. My mind has definitely been changed!
Zoellabeauty Body Fondant Shimmer Balm
If you don’t know who Zoella is or how much I love her, then you probably don’t know me. It is constantly a struggle for me to get my hands on her products because the US doesn’t have Superdrug, which is where they’re sold. However, I am able to get my hands on some of them from time to time, and I usually flippin’ love them. Her body fondant is no exception. Basically it’s like a solid lotion, with just a hint of shimmer that gives you a super nice glow. It comes with a little puff to apply (definitely use this, it’s a total disaster with your fingers). I love putting this on, especially after I’ve shaved because it just makes my skin feel so soft. It also smells amazing, as it is macaron scented. You get so much product with this, I don’t even know how I’m going to ever use it all.
Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Parfum
This is hands-down my favorite perfume ever. I usually can’t stand floral scents, but this one has deeper layers that make it work. It’s light and fresh, but has some vanilla and musk to add some depth. I get comments on this every single time I wear this. The key notes are Strawberry, Violet Leaves, Ruby Red Grapefruit, Gardenia, Violet Petals, Jasmine Petals, Musk, Vanilla, and White Woods. It is ridiculously expensive, but you don’t need much and it really does last all day. You can buy Daisy in the eau de toilette version, but I think this one is better and longer lasting. Bonus: this looks adorable on my dresser.
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Fun fact about me: I love to read, and I read a lot. This book was so freaking good. Without giving too much away, the book is set in a dystopian world that harkens to Ancient Rome. There are two main characters; Laia, a slave girl, and Elias, the military academy’s finest soldier with a conscience. When Laia’s brother is taken by the Empire, she sets out to rescue him by infiltrating the academy with the help of rebels. Their fates entertwine unexpectedly. The book is told by alternating between their POV. The plot twists are ridiculous and the cliffhanger has me feelin’ some type of way. If you loved The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc, you will definitely like this.
So that’s it for my montly favorites this time! What have you been loving recently? What are some things I should try? Have you tried any of these, and if so, how did you like them? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thanks for reading & stay golden!
