I’ve been thinking about this weekend, and how for many it’s just a holiday to stuff your face with fantastic food. Now, don’t get me wrong, I will definitely do that, but I also wanted to take some time and just share some things that I’m thankful for. It’s been a long year (seriously, what is going on 2016), and with all the horrible things going on in the world, it’s nice to think about the good things that remain. In truth, there is a lot to be so thankful for, but never fear, I’ll keep the list short.
I’m so lucky to have these people. My family is so fun, and so funny, it is seriously a blast to be a part of it. Though my parents aren’t together anymore, they both support me and give me so much encouragement. I was always the wild child, which couldn’t have been easy, but they always caught me when I fell and helped me get back on my feed. My mom and dad let me be who I was and gave me the space to make my own choices. My siblings, lord knows I’m the overdramatic, crazy, wild middle child but they put up with me. We definitely fought, but they are my friends as well as my family, and I’d do anything for them. I can’t even express how blessed I am to have such a great family.
First of all, look at that face, he’s so freakin’ cute. More than that, this guy is my #1 fan, is always looking out for me, and constantly tell me that he’s proud of me. I’ve never felt so loved and appreciated and safe with another person. When I’m down on myself he’s quick to encourage me and let me know how wonderful he thinks I am. He’s kind and generous, and almost always cooks and cleans. Without complaining (I know, he’s an actual unicorn). The last three years have been the happiest I’ve been and I don’t know what I’d do without this guy. He’s literally everything.
Ride or Die
Go best friend, that’s my best friend. We bonded over bad friends and buffalo chicken dip, and now this girl is my absolute ride or die, soul sister, and KitKatTwin. She is so positive and so caring. She has a heart of gold. Emily always wants the best for me and goes the extra mile. She’s incredibly generous, and is always there for me. We have the best friendship, and I’ve never felt like someone understood me so well .We’re like two peas in a pod, two twin soul-brains on a journey to outer space, two cats that only like each other. I really don’t know what I’d do without her.
Wolfpack, party of 2
Ohh, the stories this one and I have. We met the first day of cosmetology school and decided that we were best friends, and the rest is history. We have so much in common, and I can always count on Nadia to bring the party no matter what we’re doing. She’s the life and soul of every night out, and an endless source of entertainment. We’re basically like two crazy cat ladies. I love this girl with all my heart, but don’t tell her because ew-gross, emotions.
My job is seriously the best. I get to create unicorns all day (see more on Instagram @caitycuts) and meet some really cool people. Sometimes adulting is hard, and the job can take a lot out of you, but being a hairstylist makes me so happy. There’s nothing like completely changing someone’s look that is just hating it and making them feel super confident. The salon I’m at really changed the game, my co-workers are so great and my bosses..well they’re the best. Everything about working at my salon makes me feel so lucky.
I’ve talked about my cat in a past post, but seriously I love this guy. I literally found him on Craigslist and a love story began. He is the sweetest little bean, and is so funny. I can’t even deal with how adorable and precious his little face is. I am so glad that I decided to adopt him 5 years ago, because my life wouldn’t be the same without him.
I hope you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you’re celebrating in America). The general feel of the country has been so tense lately, but let’s not forget to take moments to remember the good things and what makes us happy. What are you giving thanks for? Let me know in the comments below. As always, thanks for reading & stay golden.
