Hello friends!
It seems like the drugstore makeup scene just keeps getting better and better. It seems like there are always new and interesting options popping up all the time, which is really great, especially if you are on a budget. I recently picked up some things up that I’m loving and a few that I’m less than impressed with, so I wanted to share them with you all. I’ll warn you now- I went a little crazy, so there’s a lot to review!
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder
I have been a fan of this powder for many moons. It never lets me down, and as you can imagine by the moniker, it keeps me matte all day. I usually buy the lightest shade or translucent but it comes in several shades. It sets my makeup really well, and absorbs any excess oil that may occur. I’ve definitely try other powders from time to time, but I always come back to this one.
Maybelline FitMe! Matte & Poreless Foundation
Though I have been a ride or die fan of the L’Oreal Pro Matte for so long, I thought I’d branch out and try something new. I’ve read a lot of good reviews about this foundation so I picked it up and gave it a spin. Though the color match is nearly perfect, I was unfortunately underwhelmed with this product. It applies really nice, but quickly breaks apart, particularly in my T-zone where I get a little more oily. It didn’t keep me matte, which is supposed to be the whole point. The color is perfection, but unfortunately it just didn’t work for me.
NYX Lip Liners
Onto a product I do really like, these NYX lip liners. They make a really nice base for a lipstick or liquid lipstick, and they seem to help them last longer. I don’t think I’d wear them on their own, as their not as creamy as some others I have, but they do the job. And for the price, they can’t be beat!
Maybelline Better Skin Concealer
I’ve talked about this concealer in my June Monthly Favorites, so I”ll be brief. Color, coverage, consistency..flawless. It brings life and brightness to the face, while never caking. It’s good for your skin, and really delivers. It’s compared to the Urban Decay Naked Concealer, but in my opinion I much prefer this one.
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
This came highly recommended to me by a friend of mine, so I decided to give it a shot. I do really rate this primer. Normally I’m not a huge fan of drugstore primers, but this one is pretty good. It does a great job of making my pores disappear and makeup sits really well on top of it. I’ve taken to using this and a mattifying primer together because it doesn’t really keep me as matte as I’d like. But overall I do like this product and I’d purchase this again for sure.
NYX Liquid Lipsticks
So technically these are different collections, but they’re kind of the same product so I just put them together. I’ve talked about these before but I just can’t get over them. The formula is amazing, the color payoff is stellar and they are really comfortable. They are super long-lasting, I can even eat with these and still not have to reapply. The three colors I got are Teddy, Vintage, and Corset, which are so pretty. If you haven’t tried these yet, I really recommend them.
Maybelline LashSensational Mascara
Put down whatever mascara you’re using and get your paws on this. I’m telling you it will give you lashes to the gawwwdds, honey. I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed with a drugstore mascara. It gets my lashes sky-high, but also adds volume, making them look super luscious as well. The lasting power is great, it doesn’t flake, and it is super black. I’ve found a winner here guys.
NYX Matte Lip Creams
NYX is definitely the reigning queen of drugstore lips. Their matte lip creams are no exception. Very pigmented, long lasting, and super comfortable, this is probably one of my favorite products, drugstore or high end. They come in tons of colors, from nudes to deep vampy purples. They’re so affordable, it’s hard not to just buy them all. And I just love how they’re named after cities. Pictured here from the center top: Rome, Prague, Cannes, Berlin, Transylvania, London, Buenos Aires & Paris.
If you haven’t taken a trip to the drugstore beauty section yet, get yourself there quick! There’s tons of really great options for amazing prices. What have you been loving from the drugstore? Are there any products I should try? Have you tried any of these, and what did you think? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thanks for reading and stay golden!
XOXO,
I looooove the NYX lipsticks, all of them, so obsessed :DD
I also own the Baby Skin primer I think it’s a really good and cheap alternative compared to the one from Benefit 😉

Totally agree with the statement that NYX is the reigning queen of drugstore lips! I actually just posted about their lip creams on my blog 😂
It’s too bad the maybelline foundation didn’t work out, I had heard so many amazing things about it on YouTube, but I’m sure you’ll find something you love soon enough, the drugstore makeup scene definitely is expanding just like you said!

Have you tried the regular matte lipsticks from NYX? They make up half of my lipstick collection!
