CaityCat Chats: Meet the Pigeon

Hello friends!

I wanted to try something new and basically just have chatty blogs about random subjects, where I just tell you about my life, very candid with no real rhyme or reason. Thus: CaityCat Chats. I’ll be posting these every so often, and they will range from meeting specific people in my life, to talking about my job, my freetime, etc etc. I want these to be really relaxed and fun. So I thought what better subject to start my CaityCat Chats with than my real-life kitten, Pigeon! Are you ready? Let’s meet him!

This is my beautiful kitten, who is actually not really a kitten anymore. He’s 5 years old this past June, but we still call him a kitten. When I first moved up to Gainesville for university I decided I really wanted a cat.I think that rescuing animals is one of the nicest thing a person can do, so I took to shelter websites and Craigslist to find one. I eventually came across an ad on Craigslist that said two kittens, a girl and a boy had been found on the side of the road and needed homes. He was just so cute I couldn’t pass him up!

Pigeon was absolutely tiny when I first got him, but he’s pretty big now. He weighs about 12 lbs, which is normal for his breed, but still fairly large! He’s a rare breed called Nebelung, which we know because of his coat and eye color. Nebelungs were originally bred to be long-haired versions of Russian Blue cats, and he is definitely long haired. He’s honestly so striking, and has the sweetest disposition.

Pigeon’s real name is Napoleon Henry, but as he grew he started making this cooing noise randomly. I thought it sounded like a Pigeon, so my family and I started calling him that. It eventually just stuck, and now I only call him Napoleon when he’s in trouble. He even seems to recognize that he’s in trouble, which is pretty funny.

Cats don’t tend to be the cuddliest of animals, but Pigeon is a real lap-cat. As most cats, it is definitely on his own terms, but he will come take naps with/on me, and will let me pick him up and carry him around for awhile. He’s super sweet, and pretty friendly. I always get comments about how nice and chill he is for a cat!

Anyone who knows me knows I’m a total cat-lady, and obviously Pigeon is my favorite. Now that you know all about him, here’s some extra cute photos for you:

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, and let me know if there is anything you’d like me to write a CaityCat Chat on! It could be anything from a Q/A to a specific topic. Do you have any pets? Are you a cat person or a dog person? Let me know in the comments below! As always, thanks so much for reading & stay golden!

WEIRD. My cat Dexter is a dead ringer for your Pigeon — especially the picture in the (wicker/outdoor?) chair. Like, doppelganger-level scary similar! So strange!!
