My Daily Makeup Essentials

Hello friends!

I’m really excited to share this post which, as you can guess, is my “daily makeup essentials”. What exactly do I mean by that?  As I’ve mentioned before I have an absolutely massive makeup collection, but these  are the items I typically reach for in my daily makeup routine. I’m not going to be talking about every type of product I use on a daily basis. For example I won’t be talking about any blushers, simply because I have far too many favorites to pick just one (you can read about those here). The products I’m going to share with you are my go-to’s, ones that I almost always use. Let’s get started!

Daily Essentials group

Benefit Porefessional face primer

This is probably hands-down favorite primer of life, bar none. Though I have used other primers in the past, and will continue to try new ones in the future, I always go back to this one. I especially like the Porefessional when I feel like I’m having texture problems with my skin. Makeup layers perfectly, and it definitely helps my makeup stay on longer. Though I usually do wear makeup over it, it does such a nice job of blurring the imperfections on my skin, I sometimes wear it alone. Though it comes out of the tube as a sort of rosy flesh color, it goes on pretty translucent. It smooths the skin, without feeling like a film is laying over it. At $31.00 for the full size, it isn’t a particularly cheap option, but I’ve yet to find a primer I love more. If you haven’t tried it yet, give it a go!

L’Oréal Paris Infalliable Pro-Matte 24 Hour Foundation

While I wouldn’t say this is my absolute favorite foundation, it definitely is the one I use most. The coverage is amazing, it is super long lasting, and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin.  I used to hate hate hate wearing foundation because I didn’t like the feel of it, but this is super light, and feels like almost nothing at all. It has minimal transfer (though be careful if you or someone you’re hugging is wearing white). I also noticed that it doesn’t oxidize nearly as much as many other drugstore options. It is advertised as medium coverage with a demi-matte finish, yet I find it buildable and quite matte. You can definitely layer it for more coverage if you feel like you need it. Overall, for the price point of $12.99, the quality of the product can’t be beat.

Loreal Infalliable Pro Matte

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

I LOVE THIS CONCEALER SO MUCH. Seriously, I’m borderline obsessive about it. This effortlessly covers blemishes and dark circles, without caking or settling into fine lines. It’s hydrating without appearing greasy, and the coverage is amazing. It’s buildable medium to full coverage, so you can layer it if you need to. I purposely purchase mine a shade or two lighter than my skin tone, as it works really nicely as a base for a highlight. It doesn’t feel heavy, even when I layer it, it is very long lasting. I can’t say enough about the quality of this product, so the fairly steep price point of $29.00 is worth it, for me. Pro tip: when you think you’ve run out, pry the rubber rim off of the top (try carefully using tweezers or manicure scissors) and you’ll find there’s so much more left in the tube.

Laura Geller Baked Body Frosting in Tahaitian Glow

Honestly, I’m not sure what a “baked body frosting” is meant to accomplish, however I use this product as a bronzer. And I love it. Though you can’t really tell, because mine is so well worn, this bronzer is a marbling of tan, cream and pearly pink. When swept together, it leaves a nice warmth to the skin without looking orangey or too warm. I use this almost everyday, with or without a contour. It blends effortlessly, and never looks patchy. Though it is advertised as a “luminous” powder, I find it to be quite matte. Again, it has a fairly high price point of $45.00, yet it lasts for such a long time, you’ll more than get your money’s worth. Though I’m always on the lookout for a new bronzer, I continually go back to this one.

Sephora Colorful Wink It Felt Waterproof Liner

This eyeliner is a watery-eyed girl’s dream. I have such a hard time wearing eyeliner, especially when it’s allergy season. I have tried almost every eyeliner known to man (at least it seems that way) and this one finally comes up to task. It is very waterproof, which I have extensively tested, yet it fairly easy to remove with a makeup wipe. It comes in a variety of colors, though I’ve only purchased the black one. On that note, it is super black, and very opaque. It is a felt-tip pen line, which makes it very easy to get a precise line, sharp as a tack. It is very pigmented, and lasts a really long time. All time favorite? Hell yes. At only $14.00, this is a steal, and so worth it.

Benefit Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara

Truth be told, my hatred for eyelash curlers run deep. I have quite voluminous lashes, but I like the long-lashed doll-like look. This mascara does exactly what it says, it both lifts and curls your lashes, giving that wide-eyed appearance.  It has a rubber patented Hook n’ Roll brush that helps separate, lift and curl, so you are never stuck with clumpy lashes. It layers quite nicely as well, so you don’t end up with “spider lashes” either. Though it isn’t advertised as a lengthening mascara, I find that it makes mine look longer. In fact, I regularly get questioned whether my lashes are my own or falsies. *Does a Beyonce dance in celebration* It lasts all day, without transferring or flaking. At $24.00, it is worth every penny. And it just looks so cute in my makeup bag!

NYX Micro Brow Pencil

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I love a perfectly done eyebrow. It’s probably the most important step for me, and I feel naked if mine aren’t done. This is a recent find for me, and I am absolutely in love with it. I’m gonna say it: it’s a dupe for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. Honestly, NYX didn’t even try to disguise it; the packaging is nearly identical. I love me some ABH Brow Wiz, but at $21 a pop, it gets esspensive. NYX is a high street brand with incredibly good prices, especially for the quality of their products. I like that the Micro Brow has a build in spoolie brush, and the pencil is so tiny, it’s really easy to get precise lines and teeny hair like strokes.  It applies evenly, and lasts all day. At $10.00 it’s a no-brainer!

Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 Palette

I love Urban Decay shadows so much, and their Naked series have so much to offer. The Basics are just that, a smaller version of their original palette, perfect for travelling or every day use. I prefer the Basics 2 over the regular Basics, because the colors are a bit more neutral and easy to mix and match. I use this palette almost every day. I love that you can create so many looks with it, from light and fresh to dark and smokey. If you love the Naked palette, but can’t quite bring yourself to spend $54.00 on it, try this one out for size and see how you do. It contains mostly matte shades, with one shimmer shade that I normally use as a highlight. At a price point of $29.00 for 6 shades, it’s definitely worth it.

Urban Decay De-Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray

This is an absolute must for me when I’m done applying my makeup. Though I have fairly dry skin, my T-zone tends to get a bit shiny, especially when I have makeup on. This prevents those areas from getting greasy, without drying my face out completely. It definitely helps my makeup stay on longer, even after a night of dancing and debauchery 😉 It isn’t scented, dries fairly quickly, and doesn’t leave any kind of residue or film on the skin. The full size bottle is $30.00 but I tend to buy the travel size which is $14.00. Trust me, the travel size lasts a super long time, so if you can’t spring for the bigger bottle, you’ll be fine with it. If you have super dry skin the De-Slick might not be the best choice for you, but they have many other options to try, including a hydrating formula.urband decay deslick.jpg

There you have it, those are my daily must have essential products to keep my hot girl disguise up and running. I hope you’ve enjoyed this post. Leave me a comment and let me know if you have tried any of these products, tell me what you think. Let me know what your daily essentials are, and if there is any I should try! As always, thanks so much for reading, & stay golden!
